Hypochlorous Acid : HOCl

An ideal disinfectant and sanitizer must be nontoxic to surface contact,
noncorrosive, effective in various forms, and relatively inexpensive. HOCl may be the disinfectant of choice for coronaviruses in an oral-maxillofacial surgery (OMS) office.

HOCl is an endogenous substance in all mammals and is effective against a broad range of microorganisms. Neutrophils, eosinophils, mononuclear phagocytes, and Blymphocytes produce HOCl in response to injury and infection through the mitochondrial membrane–bound enzyme known as “respiratory burst nicotinamideadenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase.” HOCl selectively binds with the unsaturated lipid layer and subsequently disrupts cellular integrity. Between pH levels of 3 and 6, the predominant species is HOCl that has maximal antimicrobial properties.

HOCl is a powerful oxidizing agent. In aqueous solution, it dissociates into H+ and OCl–, denaturing and aggregating proteins. HOCl also destroys viruses by chlorination by forming chloramines and nitrogen-centered radicals, resulting in single- as well as double-stranded DNA breaks, rendering the nucleic acid useless and the virus harmless.

HOCL was proved can kill various virus including Coronavirus,  under 200 ppm concentration only need less than a minute.

Combining non-iodized salt, water and electricity, 1 liter of hypochlorous acid water can be produced in 8 minutes, which can be repeated many times a day. In contrast, a pack of ordinary disinfectant wipes containing quaternary ammonium compounds costs tens of Hong Kong dollars or a disinfectant solution from tens to hundreds of Hong Kong dollars.

Steps for usage

  • Pour tap water up to the line engraved with “max”, that is, 200 ml of water is prepared.
  • Add 0.5 g (half spoon) or 1 g (1 spoon-enhanced mode) of  salt (Note: Please shake well and wait for the salt to completely dissolve in the water, otherwise the remaining salt particles may jam the nozzle.)
  • Connect the charging cable to a USB socket with stable power supply (or a fully charged model with built-in battery), and connect it to the charging port of the body.
    Press and hold until the red light at the bottom of the bottle lights up. The device is now ready for electrolysis.
    Standard mode: Quickly press, the blue light at the bottom of the bottle is on, and wait for 5 minutes to complete the electrolysis. or
    Enhanced mode: press twice quickly, the green light at the bottom of the bottle is on, wait for 10 minutes to complete the electrolysis.
    After the electrolysis is completed, it will emit a “buzz” sound, and the blue/green light will turn back to the red light. You can unplug the charging cable, and the made hypochlorous acid liquid can be used.
